Sergio Premoli was born in Rome in 1942. He was raised between Rome and Florence where he was able to study under various master painters and sculptors. During the 1960's, he created and was part of the historical Roman School of Artists. He then came to the United States and has spent the past 30 years exhibiting in galleries throughout the country. He is now, once again, living in Rome and preparing for a variety of exhibits throughout Europe. Sergio's paintings can be found in some of the most important private collections throughout the world.
"Sergio Premoli has been both a friend and an artist whose work I've admired over the years. His eccentric paintings of Lincoln, Venus, and Napoleon grace the walls of my office. Sergio is probably, if you sought to define him, a primitive romantic in the vein of Dubuffet -- always finding the rawest beauty in his impressionistic, brutish portraits. Yet the innocence of his line drawings have a subtle strength that reminds me of Renaissance portraiture, and I believe they deserve more attention than they receive. Sergio invests a lot of emotion and eroticism in his work, and his personality comes through in each pencil line or brushstroke. Sergio's friendship and work have been inspiring to me. He possesses one of those rare Mediterranean souls which drift from place to place, canvas to canvas, and leave traces of themselves behind for others to admire. I am proud to call myself his friend."
